Training Programs

TRAINING
     Your journey would begin with training in the art and science of exceptional restaurateurship. Training takes 10 weeks and covers a variety of topics including preparing and handling great food and drink, dealing with guests and vendors, managing people, staffing, organizing, financial forecasting, and other areas that prepare you for running a multi-million dollar business. The program is intense and includes a lot of reading, classroom instruction, homework, weekly hands-on and written examinations, and on-the-job training. To complete the program successfully requires strict discipline and self-motivation. Are you ready for the challenge? Training takes place in one of our Boston restaurants. If you need to relocate for training, all travel and housing expenses will be covered.
 

ADVANCEMENT
     As a manager, you will be cross-trained in all areas of the restaurant. In addition, you will receive personal coaching, development, and feedback from other managers and the Support Center. This focus on your learning and growth will serve to prepare you for higher management positions. Typically, becoming a GM can take anywhere from one to five years after completing the management training. However, all promotions are based on experience, job performance, and position availability.
 
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
     We expect managers to fulfill all duties and responsibilities as outlined in the job description and performance expectation brochure. In addition, we believe that we are successful because our managers are strongly committed to their restaurants and to the company. As we commit to you and place the success of our restaurant in your hands, we expect the same level of commitment. At times, you will be asked to go above and beyond what's expected, jump into the trenches (e.g. clean bathrooms, scrub pots and pans, sweep floors), and break a sweat. But the returns will be well worth the effort. The challenges, sense of achievement, and new experiences will fulfill your desire for exceptional restaurateurship.
